July 20, 2010

NPR
Curious about what it’s like to be a female musician these days? NPR conducted interviews and surveys of 700 of working women musicians throughout the U.S., including several Seattlites. The article is broken into several categories with direct quotes from various women. Readers can peruse categories such as “Decisions, Decisions,” “Onstage,” “Offstage,” “Working It” and “Advice” and glean a fairly accurate and interesting picture of the life of contemporary female musicians. Be sure to check out quotes from Seattle ladies such as Lotte Kestner, Shannon Stephens (of Marzuki), Rachel Flotard (of Visqueen), Traci Eggleston (of Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band), Terry Sandys, Sarah Mattox and Karen P. Thomas. To read the full article, follow the link.
